A commitment to social impact and responsible citizenship
Our core purpose is helping people thrive, every day. At BDO, we believe that our success is inseparable from the success of the communities in which we operate and where our people live. We are committed to a vision of corporate citizenship in which we share responsibility for community well-being, a position we’ve proudly held for many years.
Our people play an essential part in delivering on our commitment to positive social impact. They contribute through firm-organized volunteer activities, their own commitments supporting causes they are passionate about, as leaders of non-profit and community organizations, and much more.
BDO Counts
Our social impact program, BDO Counts, is employee-driven and focuses on four cause areas chosen by our people, aligning personal interests with firm priorities. Our professionals contribute their time, talent and resources by engaging with – and sometimes creating – initiatives at local, regional and national levels. We support their volunteer and charitable commitments, from matching financial contributions to supporting volunteer activities during workdays.
Over the years, BDO Counts has empowered our people to donate thousands of volunteer hours and raised substantial funds in support of community initiatives.
Our Four Cause Areas
Children & Youth
Enhanced youth well-being: We invest in our future by supporting organizations that improve children’s academic, social and emotional well-being.
Education & Literacy
Equal educational and economic opportunities: We help communities thrive by supporting organizations that help people advance academically and professionally.
Human Rights
Thriving, inclusive communities: To thrive, you must first survive. We support organizations dedicated to improving food security, housing, economic opportunity and belonging.
Environment
A sustainable future: We support environmental champions and innovators committed to helping the planet thrive.
Weeks of Service
BDO’s Weeks of Service provide time for our offices across the country to simultaneously volunteer in support of locally selected community efforts. The weeks are coordinated on a recurring basis, allowing designated times for anyone and everyone at the firm to participate in service events alongside their colleagues.
Each office chooses an initiative and fields teams of volunteers to address a variety of opportunities, from supporting efforts aimed at driving out food insecurity to gathering school supplies for kids in need to raising money to fund medical research to assisting with habitat restoration projects.
Celebrating Success
Our professionals have a passion for serving others — it’s one reason why they are successful at what they do. Through our annual BDO Counts Awards program, we recognize individuals and teams that go above and beyond in their support of community initiatives by making a financial contribution to a nonprofit organization of their choice.
Community Leadership
Many of our professionals serve their communities as board members of charitable, civic and cultural organizations. In addition to their work in fundraising, our people often help these nonprofits thrive by lending their professional experience to optimize the financial and operational health of the organization. Their efforts help to ensure the organization’s continued success and contribution to the community.

Brand Ambassador
BDO is partnering with PGA TOUR winner and professional golfer Billy Horschel to support Billy’s efforts on and off the green. Because his passion for community advancement aligns so closely with ours, we are proud to support his efforts in fighting food insecurity, growing the game of golf with the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) Billy Horschel Junior Championship, and leading the diversity-focused Advocates Pro Golf Association (APGA) Tour’s Billy Horschel Invitational.
