Kristen McCarthy

Kristen has more than 28 years of experience in public and private accounting. Prior to joining BDO, she was with a Big Four accounting firm and in private industry with Hughes Electronics, a Fortune 50 company. Her experience includes serving public, privately held and nonprofit companies in the technology, manufacturing and distribution, real estate, and service industries. 

Kristen is skilled at working with publicly traded companies from initial public offerings to 404 engagements. She has extensive experience assisting with client’s ’33 and ’34 Act filing requirements. Further, her SEC experience specifically includes initial public and secondary offerings, private investment in public equity (PIPE) transactions, debt offerings, M&A transactions and non-traded SEC registrants. Kristen’s leadership roles in the firm include co-chairing the Women’s Initiative, BDO Flex, and as a mentor to BDO’s Leadership Institute. She is a regular instructor at technical training events and is an active member of the Firm’s quality control efforts.

Kristen is a member of BDO’s Manufacturing and Distribution and Consumer Products Industry Groups. Her industry experience includes consumer products oriented companies such as Alacer, maker of Emergen-C, Fruit-a-Freeze, Mag Instruments, Fluidmaster, Inc., American Sporting Goods (maker of Avia Shoes) and other wholesalers and distributors to the consumer market. Manufacturing and distribution clients have been Kristen’s core practice throughout her career. She is adept at identifying relevant business issues and working collaboratively with her clients to create viable solutions. 

Kristen is the National Co-Chair of BDO’s Women’s Inclusion, instructs at National training events, and is active in recruiting for BDO.
