Mariette Howe

Mariette is a Managing Director in the Global Indirect Tax Practice. She has more than 20 years of international tax, value added tax and information technology experience. She spent 7 years with a Fortune 500 logistics company, focusing on value added tax audits & litigation, global outsourcing and the implementation of global indirect tax in SAP. Prior to joining BDO, Mariette spent several years with one of the Big Four firms, proactively managing global value added tax. Mariette’s current focus is collaborating with international indirect tax stakeholders to assess value added tax needs and translating those requirements into meaningful project plans for implementation and configuration of value added tax solutions with point of sales, e-invoicing, value added tax identification for businesses and ERPs. She works closely with Indirect Tax Automation, specializing in business process optimization, as well as data transformations to streamline reporting efficiencies and reduce costs. She assists clients with global value added tax audit defenses, global audits, overpayment reviews, input credit requests, tax return compliance management, global supply chain analysis, value added tax registrations and M&A. She has served several clients in various industries including logistics, construction, hospitality, manufacturing, technology, financial sector and retail. Mariette also worked closely with BDO Tax Automation & Innovation to streamline process and procedures for global value added tax compliance projects and have introduced an automated dashboard and filing calendar with reporting capabilities and features.
