Executive Summary
Mark is an Assurance Principal in BDO’s Accounting Advisory & Outsourcing group and leads the firm’s Finance & Accounting Strategic Resources national practice. He has more than 39 years of experience providing finance, accounting, executive leadership and assurance services.
Mark focuses on providing high level finance and accounting loan staff resources for interim project-based accounting work. He also provides long-term outsourced accounting and consulting services. Mark’s clients are of all sizes in a variety of industries including nonprofits, higher education, financial services, energy, retail, real estate, manufacturing and distribution. His services include business strategy, operational efficiency, joint ventures, business processes and internal control analysis.
He brings an international perspective to his clients, having started his career as a Chartered Accountant (England) with Touche Ross (Deloitte), London and then moving to the USA and qualifying as a Certified Public Accountant (DC, MD, VA). Mark has acted as interim CFO for clients, including an European based chemicals distribution company and a large US national nonprofit.
Mark is committed to BDO’s community involvement strategies and, in 2008, was the founding chair of BDO’s national and local employee volunteer initiative, BDO Counts. His experiences as board chairperson of Whitman-Walker Health, a community-centered enterprise in Washington, DC committed to advancing social justice and equality through health, strongly resonate with his advocacy for BDO’s diversity and inclusion strategy.
Mark has authored and co-authored articles for Association Trends and the Journal of Accountancy on Outsourcing issues. He has testified before a Maryland House Committee on CPA Mobility legislation issues. Washington SmartCEO Magazine recognized him as a SmartCPA and a Power Player.
